The overarching theme of my painting is the built environment in various forms – buildings, urban views, parks and managed landscape.
My recent work is still life informed by the built environment. I construct and then paint from objects that are influenced by architectural models, model railway scenery or the spontaneously arranged structures a child might put together as a stage for play. These staged environments use readily available materials to fashion a setting that allows imagination and speculation to flow.
